The turmoil unfolded when Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar faced heckling from opposition MPs within the Parliament premises. In response, all NDA MPs stood in the Rajya Sabha for an hour as a gesture of respect for the Vice President. Simultaneously, the BJP declared its intention to burn effigies of Rahul Gandhi nationwide.

President Droupadi Murmu emphasized the importance of elected representatives expressing themselves within the norms of dignity and decorum, respecting the parliamentary tradition.
Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij condemned the mocking of Vice President Dhankhar and called for Kalyan Banerjee’s removal from Parliament, further escalating tensions. The BJP Kisan Morcha announced a nationwide effigy-burning protest against Rahul Gandhi.
In response to the criticism, Kalyan Banerjee defended himself, stating that he had no intention of hurting anyone’s feelings and had great respect for Vice President Dhankhar. He pointed out that mimicry has been performed by the Prime Minister in the Lok Sabha.
