New Delhi: With the Monsoon Session of Parliament set to commence, the Delhi Police has significantly tightened security arrangements across the national capital. Authorities have officially imposed prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita across the New Delhi district to maintain law and order ahead of the proposed Chalo Sansad march organised by the Cockroach Janta Party.
The Cockroach Janta Party, led by its founder Abhijeet Dipke, has been staging an ongoing agitation at Jantar Mantar. The demonstrators are aggressively demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the alleged irregularities in the national medical entrance examinations. Tensions at the protest site escalated recently after prominent climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, who was observing an indefinite hunger strike in support of the students, was forcibly shifted to Safdarjung Hospital by the police due to his deteriorating health condition.
Following the hospitalisation of Wangchuk, Abhijeet Dipke announced his own indefinite hunger strike and strongly urged supporters nationwide to participate in the massive Parliament march scheduled for Monday. However, the Delhi Police issued a firm statement clarifying that no official permission was either sought or granted for the proposed rally. Law enforcement officials strictly warned that any attempt to carry out an unauthorised procession would invite immediate legal prosecution under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
To prevent any untoward incidents, multiple layers of heavy barricading have been erected at key entry points and highly sensitive areas, including Parliament Street, Central Vista and Connaught Place. Additional police personnel, armed guards and rapid response teams have been deployed on standby to conduct intensive vehicle checks. Security forces are closely monitoring the massive crowds gathering at Jantar Mantar through enhanced surveillance systems.
The situation in the national capital remains highly sensitive as the administration attempts to balance the right to peaceful protest at designated sites with the critical necessity of securing vital government installations. Authorities are currently on high alert to prevent a potential showdown between the surging crowds of protesters and the heavily deployed security forces during this crucial legislative session.
