New Delhi: Journalist Saba Naqvi’s name appears along with suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma and expelled leader Naveen Jindal in the FIRs filed by Delhi Police for allegedly spreading hate messages amid the row over the comments made about the Prophet.
The Delhi Police has registered two FIRs — one against Nupur Sharma and another against those who have been accused of making “controversial” statements continuously.
While the first FIR named Nupur Sharma, the second named Naveen Jindal, Shadab Chauhan, Sab Naqvi, Maulana Mufti Nadeem, Abdur Rehman, Gulzar Ansari, and Anil Kumar Meena, India Today reported.
Police have booked Nupur Sharma under Sections 153 (wantonly giving provocation with intent to cause riot), 295 (injuring or defiling a place of worship with intent to insult the religion of any class), and 505 (statements conducing to public mischief) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The Delhi police have also named All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief and MP Asaduddin Owaisi, and hatemonger Yati Narsinghanand who is out on bail in the Haridwar hate speech case, NDTV reported.
