Delhi Flood Incident: NDRF and Fire Services Deployed at Rao IAS Coaching Institute

New Delhi: A major incident has stirred the capital after heavy rains led to severe waterlogging in several areas, including Rajendra Nagar. The library of Rao IAS Coaching Institute, located in the basement of the coaching center, was flooded, resulting in the disappearance of three students.

Delhi Education Minister Atishi confirmed the deployment of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and fire services at the site. She stated that the situation is being closely monitored and a magisterial inquiry has been ordered. “Strict action will be taken against anyone found responsible for this accident,” Atishi assured. The mayor of Delhi and local MLAs are also present on the scene to oversee the rescue operations.

Delhi BJP leader Rajesh Bhatia, who visited the site, released a video blaming the local MLA for the waterlogging issues exacerbated by the rainy season. He highlighted that many areas of Rajendra Nagar were heavily waterlogged, contributing to the incident.

The incident occurred on Saturday when the library of Rao IAS Coaching Institute, which is situated in the basement, was rapidly inundated with rainwater. A student present at the time recounted, “The library closes around 7 pm. There were more than 35 of us in the library when the water started pouring in rapidly. Within two to three minutes, the entire basement was flooded. In such a situation, two to three students got stuck in the water. The rainwater was so dirty that nothing below was visible.”

Upon receiving information about the incident, the NDRF team promptly arrived at the site and initiated the evacuation of the students. The rescue efforts are ongoing, with authorities working tirelessly to locate the missing students and ensure the safety of others.
