New Delhi: Those receiving Bharat BioTech’s Covaxin during the nationwide vaccination drive against COVID-19 will have to sign a “consent form” and agree to certain terms and conditions.
Besides, the recipients of Covaxin will be compensated and provided with medical care in case an adverse event is reported following vaccination and it is found to have been caused by the vaccine.
“In case of any serious adverse events (SAE), vaccine recipients will be provided medically recognised standard of care in government designated and authorised centres/hospitals,” the consent form for Covaxin states.
“The compensation for serious adverse event will be paid by sponsor (BBIL) if the SAE is proven to be causally related to the vaccine. The compensation will be determined by ICMR’s Central Ethics Committee, as appropriate,” it adds, India Today reported.
The Covaxin recipients will also be given a fact-sheet and an adverse effect reporting form where they have to note down symptoms such as fever, pain and redness suffered within the seven days of getting the shot.
However, those receiving Covishield don’t have to sign a consent form unlike the ones who will be given Covaxin.
