Constitution Bench To Review Govt Move On Article 370

New Delhi: The Supreme Court will review the constitutional validity of the government’s move to scrap Article 370 in October, the top court said on Wednesday.

“We will refer the matter to a five-judge Constitution bench,” a bench headed by Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi said, NDTV reported.

The top court has also sought a response from the Centre as it heard a batch of petitions against the government’s decision to abrogate special status to Jammu and Kashmir.

During Wednesday’s hearing, the SC bench, also comprising Justices SA Bobde and SA Nazeer, refused to accept the government lawyer’s arguments that the notice to the Centre will have a “cross-border repercussion”.

“We know what to do. We have passed the order and we are not going to change,” the bench said.
