New Delhi: Congress Member of Parliament Charanjit Singh Channi caused widespread controversy by challenging the evidence of the 2019 Indian military strike, which took place after the Pulwama attack. At Congress Working Committee meeting, former Punjab Chief Minister Channi asked for evidence about the Balakot air strikes, which brought back a contentious subject for discussion.

The CWC gathering examined both the Pahalgam attack and caste census issues, yet Channi’s remarks became the main event. He stated the government has not identified those responsible for the Pulwama attack that took 40 lives of CRPF personnel while repeating his prediction the Poonch incident was a political electoral tactic by BJP. BJP leaders, specifically Anurag Thakur, strongly condemned Channi by accusing him of military disrespect before demanding an official apology from him.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge criticised government handling of the Pahalgam incident when Rahul Gandhi campaigned for a caste census. The Congress leader accused industrialist Gautam Adani of operating without restraint in the business world. The Congress party issued an official statement declaring Kharge as well as Gandhi and designated representatives as the sole voices who represent the party.

The remarks have intensified political rifts with the BJP because they consider it an insult to national security standards. Other than tensions, the nation continues to track whether this situation will calm down or intensify beyond current levels.
