New Delhi: Following a recent security breach at the Parliament House Complex, the Delhi Police will likely be removed from frisking and security check duties, and the responsibilities will be transferred to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).
The Union Home Ministry has conveyed “in principle” approval for a survey of the Parliament premises and buildings for regular deployment of CISF under the Government Building Security (GBS) pattern. After the final approval and deployment, the Delhi Police will either be removed from security duty on Parliament premises or only a few police personnel may be deployed.
The CISF is responsible for the security of all government buildings and sensitive projects across India.
To conduct the survey, a DIG CISF will form a joint survey board. The board will submit reports for the security and fire wings, and final approval will be given for the deployment.
The Ministry of Home Affairs has also initiated the process of filling up the vacant post of Joint Secretary (Security) in the Lok Sabha Secretariat on a deputation basis. Additionally, the government will soon fill the post of DG CRPF, which is currently held as an additional charge by the DG ITBP.
These changes are expected to enhance security at the Parliament House Complex.
