Mumbai: The Dubai International Stadium is again the centre of attention as plans are made to hold games for Team India in the Champions Trophy 2025. India will play all of its games in Dubai, which makes me wonder about the state of the pitch they will be playing on. Most of the tournament will take place in Pakistan.
The ground recently played home to the ILT20 league. On February 9, the last game of the season took place. Some people also talked about field preparation since there are only eleven days between the end of the T20I and India’s first game in the Champions Trophy. Some experts say the surface will be slow and even slower as the game progresses. The people in charge of the pitch have kept most of their plans secret. All they have said is they have 10 days to prepare the field for a challenging one-day international standard game.
India’s first game will be against Bangladesh on February 20. On February 23, they will play their big foes, Pakistan. The manager has agreed that the surface will be changed to make it better for one day of international cricket. But the Dubai venue has only been used for Twenty20 games in the past few years. The last One-Day International game played there was in June 2019. However, scores between 250 and 300 should make it a close match Any team has a better chance of winning if they score more than 300 runs.
The Indian team may have the upper hand if the pitch slows down and spins a lot. The Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) has picked a 15-person team that includes five spin bowlers. The team comprises expert spinners and all-rounders who can help with both bat and ball.
