NewDelhi: The Central Government has increased the security of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Arvinder Singh Lovely, and provided Y+ category protection to him.This was done after the Intelligence Bureau (IB) came up with report with some concerns that Lovely may be in danger. The Ministry of Home Affairs did not take long to act by increasing his security protection. The former Delhi Congress chief Lovely joined the BJP after he had to resign his post prior to the Lok Sabha elections. Centre sees Sharad Pawar’s Security as a Growing Concern After the killing of Baba Siddique the Ministry of Home Affairs is also worried for the security of Nationalist Congress Party NCP leader Sharad Pawar.
The Central security agency, the CRPF is learnt to be planning to meet Pawar once again to persuade him to accept Z+ category security. Only two months back, the Centre had provided Z+ security cover to Pawar, a seasoned politician who turned it down. Yogi, Rajnath among other leaders receive heightened security In this year, Central Government ordered to replace National Security Guard (NSG) commandos of nine important leaders.
In this list are Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, BSP supremo Mayawati, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, former Deputy PM LK Advani, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, former Chhattisgarh CM Raman Singh, former J&K CM Ghulam Nabi Azad, NC leader Farooq Abdullah and Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu. The Home Ministry passed an order that CRPF personnel would be housing these leaders as their security personnel.
The NSG in India is primarily charged with the responsibility of providing the protect of critical political personalities. Some of the world’s leaders; most especially Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India owes their security to the NSG. On October 14, 2024, the Home Ministry has also upped the security of the Union Minister for Food Processing Industries Chirag Paswan to Z category. Earlier, Paswan had used personal security provided by Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) commandos.
