He openly acknowledged that while the present legal provisions can manage issues like deepfakes and basic content labelling to a certain limited extent they remain highly inadequate for properly combating the broader and much more complex risks. Krishnan explicitly confirmed that the government is now actively holding detailed discussions with various industry experts and stakeholders to meticulously design a dedicated legal framework specifically tailored for managing this new technology.
The sudden urgency for this specific legislation highlights the growing vulnerability of ordinary citizens to new age cybercrimes and targeted digital manipulation.
