New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday intensified its probe into the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak and examination irregularities by arresting five accused and conducting raids at multiple locations across the country.
According to officials, three accused — Mangilal Bival, Vikas Bival and Dinesh Bival — were arrested from Jaipur in Rajasthan. Two others, identified as Shubham Khairnar from Maharashtra’s Nashik and Yash Yadav from Gurugram in Haryana, were also taken into custody.
Investigators suspect the involvement of a larger inter-state network linked to the leak of the NEET-UG examination paper. Sources associated with the probe said several other suspects are currently being questioned as agencies attempt to trace the origin and spread of the alleged leak racket.
The controversy surrounding NEET-UG 2026 intensified after allegations surfaced that leaked “guess papers” closely matched the actual question paper. Reports claimed that the papers were allegedly sold to aspirants for huge sums running into lakhs of rupees.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) had earlier cancelled the examination conducted on May 3 following widespread allegations of malpractice and paper leakage, impacting nearly 23 lakh candidates across the country.
The CBI has already registered an FIR in the matter and formed special investigation teams to probe the case. Officials indicated that more arrests could follow in the coming days as the investigation expands.
