New Delhi: In a stunning escalation during the Budget Session, BJP MP Manoj Tiwari has accused Opposition women parliamentarians of hatching a plan to ‘attack’ Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s chair in the Lok Sabha.

The claim surfaced amid chaotic protests that forced the House to adjourn just before PM Modi’s scheduled reply to the Motion of Thanks on the President’s Address.

The session saw repeated disruptions as Opposition members raised slogans and stormed towards the Treasury benches. Tiwari alleged that the women MPs encircled the PM’s seat with clear intent to harm it, stating, “Opposition MPs advanced towards the Treasury bench… Their aim was to assault the PM’s chair.” This came after the Lok Sabha was adjourned till Thursday morning, with PM Modi already present in Parliament.

Countering the charge, Opposition leaders lambasted the government. Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra mocked, “The PM got scared to enter Parliament.” TMC’s Kalyan Banerjee echoed, “The PM fled in fear.” Congress general secretary KC Venugopal demanded, “Ask the Prime Minister why he’s not coming? Is this Parliament or some other centre? The government is turning it into a joke — we won’t allow it.” Rahul Gandhi, posting on X, added, “As I said, PM Modi won’t come to Parliament because he’s afraid and doesn’t want to face the truth.”

The incident highlights deepening rifts in the House, with the Opposition pressing on issues like unemployment and inflation.
