BJP’s Caste Equation Strategy in Rajasthan: Balancing Power and Targeting Lok Sabha 2024

New Delhi: Following its landslide victory in the Rajasthan assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is now focused on forming a government that addresses the state’s complex caste equations. This move is seen as crucial for the party’s success in the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

To choose the Chief Minister, the party has appointed a committee of observers: Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, National General Secretary Vinod Tawde, and Rajya Sabha member Saroj Pandey. They will meet with Rajasthan MLAs on Sunday to gauge their preferences. Vasundhara Raje and Baba Balaknath are considered the frontrunners for the post.

However, the BJP plans to create two Deputy Chief Minister positions to maintain political balance and solve the caste equation. The goal is to ensure that the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Ministers represent different dominant castes: Rajput, Brahmin, Meena, and Jat. Additionally, a woman MLA from the Schedule Caste community may be chosen as Assembly Speaker.

This strategic approach aims to consolidate the party’s position among various caste groups and ensure their support in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. By successfully implementing this plan, the BJP hopes to secure all Lok Sabha seats in Rajasthan, further solidifying its national presence.
