NewDelhi: Delhi Assembly Election News – The Primary List: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) released its first list of winners for the first Delhi Assembly elections with 29 names. It has names of people who will contest against leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), such as the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Atishi, his deputy.
As part of the tactical contest, the BJP has named Pravesh Verma to face Kejriwal in the New Delhi constituency and Ramesh Bidhuri in Kalkaji against Atishi. Also, Kailash Gehlot, who recently switched his loyalty from AAP to BJP, has been named as the BJP candidate for the Bijwasan seat.
The list includes potential contenders like Raj Kumar Bhatia of Adarsh Nagar, Deepak Chaudhary of Badli, Satish Upadhyay of Malviya Nagar, and Arvinder Singh Lovely of Gandhinagar, who was the president of Delhi Congress also. The party wants to use this result in order to consolidate its position in the capitals, building on these candidates’ experience and popularity.
Among the 29 candidates, two women have been nominated: Rekha Gupta from Shalimar Bagh and Kumari Rinku from Seemapuri (SC). These included the women to show that BJP was willing to expand its list of potential candidates.
This decision by the party entails nominating leaders who have defected from other parties under the bid to massively support their party throughout the region and countercheck AAP’s dominance. Some of the known MLAs who have jumped ship are Kartar Singh Tanwar and Rajkumar Chauhan.
The BJP declared its list of seat-wise nominees just as the AAP had declared its nominees for the election; Congress too had come out with several lists. Municipal elections are set for later this month in Delhi, and parties are busy campaigning to get their candidates elected.
During, and in particular when the election date draws near, the performance of such candidates will attract much attention concerning how well they can compete with their rivals.
