New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced its first list of candidates for the upcoming Rajya Sabha by-elections, scheduled for 3rd September 2024. The announcement was made on Saturday, revealing the party’s selections for nine states, as the Election Commission gears up for elections to fill 12 seats.
The BJP has strategically positioned its candidates across various states, with significant picks from Haryana and Rajasthan. Among the notable names are Sardar Ravneet Singh Bittu from Rajasthan and Kiran Chaudhary from Haryana, reflecting the party’s focus on ensuring strong representation in these states.
Additionally, the list includes Mission Ranjan Das and Rameshwar Teli from Assam, Manan Kumar Mishra from Bihar, George Kurien from Madhya Pradesh, Dhairyasheel Patil from Maharashtra, Mamta Mohanta from Odisha, and Rajiv Bhattacharjee from Tripura.
In a statement, the BJP’s Central Election Committee emphasised the careful selection of candidates to represent the party’s vision and commitment in the upcoming by-elections. The by-polls are significant as they will shape the party’s strength in the upper house, potentially impacting legislative dynamics.
