Patna: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday released its third list of 18 candidates, making it the last of the total 101 seats for Bihar Assembly polls.
The move comes after the party announced names of 71 candidates in the first list and 12 in the second, reinforcing BJP’s aggressive drive to take on opponents in the state’s 243-seat assembly.
In the latest list, BJP has given a ticket to Satish Kumar Yadav for the Raghopur seat, which he lost to Tejashwi Yadav in 2015 and 2020. Notwithstanding all this, the party had reposed faith in Satish, citing his victory against Rabri Devi in 2010 when he was fielded as a JD(U) nominee. Other prominent nominations include Nand Kishore Ram from Ramnagar, Sanjay Pandey from Narkatiaganj, Narayan Prasad — Nautan and Umakant Singh — Chanpatia. The list also presents two new faces for women candidates – Beena Devi from Kochadhaman and Sangeeta Kumari from Mohania – adding to the party’s belief in gender-promoting campaigning.
The BJP which is contesting the election in alliance with JD(U) on 101 seats each, has forged a new set of rivals. The State’s Assembly elections on November 6 and 11 are set for a high-stakes fight for political supremacy.
