Bihar Election Results: NDA Ahead Of Mahagathbandhan; Tej Pratap Trails

New Delhi: The latest trends in the counting of votes for 243 assembly constituencies in Bihar give a clear edge to the NDA, which could be on course to retain power.

Nitish Kumar, who is heading the JD(U)-BJP combine, has crossed the halfway mark as per latest EC trends for 238 of 243 seats by leading on 125 seats (BJP 70, JDU 48, VIP 6, HAM 1). The Tejashwi Yadav-led Mahagathbandhan comprising RJD, Congress and Left Parties is ahead on 101 seats (RJD 62, Congress 20, Left 19) while BSP is leading on 1, AIMIM on 2, LJP on 5 and independents on 4 seats.

  • Tejashwi is leading from the Raghopur Assembly seat with 2,445 votes
  • Tej Pratap, who shifted his Assembly seat from Mahua to Hasanpur, is trailing behind the ruling Janata Dal(United) candidate Raj Kumar Ray by over 1,500 votes.
  • Veteran leader Sharad Yadav’s daughter Subhashini Bundela, who contested as the Congress candidate from Bihariganj, is trailing by a margin of over 1,400 votes.
  • Hindustani Awam Morcha’s Jitan Ram Manjhi trailing RJD’s Uday Narain Choudhary in Imamganj
  • In Nitish Kumar’s stronghold Nalanda, JDU is facing a loss of two seats as per current trends. In Islampur, RJD is leading while in Rajgir, Congress is leading. In 2015 has won five out of seven assembly seats. Currently, the party is leading in three seats.
  • Bihar minister and BJP leader Nand Kishore Yadav trailing Pravin Singh of Congress in Patna Sahib
  • Akhaui Onkar Nath of Congress trailing in Gaya.
  • JD(U)’s VIjay Kumar Choudhary is leading from Sarairanjan
  • BJP’s Dr Sunil Kumar leads in Biharsharif
  • Neetu Kumari of the Congress leads in Hasua
  • Lovely Anand, the wife of jailed former MP Anand Mohan who contested as on RJD ticket, is trailing by over 10,000 votes from Saharsa Assembly constituency.

Elections to the 243-member Assembly was conducted in three phases – October 28, November 3 and November 7.
