Patna: In a heated exchange in the Bihar Legislative Council, Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Samrat Choudhary launched a scathing attack on the Opposition, claiming he possesses incriminating files on them and vowing to take action at the appropriate time.

The remarks came amid a debate on law and order, where Opposition members, including those from the RJD, grilled the NDA government over recent crimes like the Patna double murder.

Choudhary, defending the government’s efforts to establish good governance, highlighted significant achievements in curbing crime. “In 2025 alone, over 6,000 arrests were made in murder cases and 2,264 in looting incidents,” he stated. He emphasised that Bihar records the lowest number of ransom kidnappings in the country and ranks 31st in dacoity cases, countering the Opposition’s allegations of deteriorating security.

Addressing the controversial NEET aspirant case, Choudhary said the police had conducted a thorough investigation, submitted a report, and issued a public statement. However, amid public outcry, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar recommended a CBI probe. Reversing his criticism, Choudhary issued a warning, saying, “You too possess files.” If you ask, I’ll show them. As home minister, the CM has entrusted me with this responsibility. I have records of everyone’s actions — what they’ve done. Governance means taking the right decision at the right time, so action will follow accordingly.”

He added, “Whatever you point to, we’ll investigate — the trail will lead back to you, not elsewhere. Don’t live in misconceptions. I’ll handle each one; no one will be spared. I have records on every individual.”

The Opposition’s persistent questions irked Choudhary, who accused them of creating unnecessary furor. This exchange underscores the intensifying political rivalry in Bihar, with the NDA asserting its commitment to law and order while fending off attacks from the Grand Alliance.
