New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party is set to hold a major organisational meeting in the national capital on June 1, bringing together state unit presidents from across the country as the party prepares its political roadmap ahead of upcoming elections and programmes marking 12 years of the Narendra Modi government.
The high level meeting will be chaired by BJP national president Nitin Nabin and is expected to focus on organisational review, election preparedness and coordination between the party leadership and state units. BJP national general secretary (organisation) B L Santhosh, along with other senior national office bearers, will also attend the meeting.
According to party sources, discussions will revolve around strengthening grassroots outreach, reviewing organisational performance in different states and preparing strategies for upcoming Assembly elections. The leadership is also expected to assess the progress of recent organisational changes introduced under Nitin Nabin’s leadership.
The meeting comes just days after the BJP announced new state presidents in Delhi, Haryana, Punjab and Tripura as part of a broader restructuring exercise. The appointments are being viewed as Nitin Nabin’s first major organisational move since taking over as the party’s national president earlier this year.
In Delhi, Union Minister Harsh Malhotra has been appointed the new BJP state president, replacing Virendra Sachdeva after the completion of his tenure. Haryana’s leadership has been handed to Archana Gupta, while former Congress leader and BJP vice president Keval Singh Dhillon has been given charge of Punjab. In Tripura, MLA Abhishek Debroy has been appointed as the party’s new state chief.
The June 1 meeting is also significant because it comes ahead of a series of programmes planned by the BJP to mark 12 years of the Modi government at the Centre. Party leaders are expected to discuss outreach campaigns, public events and communication strategies highlighting the government’s achievements since 2014.
Sources indicate that the BJP wants to ensure greater coordination between the organisation and governments led by the party and its allies. Discussions may also cover booth level strengthening, membership drives and preparations for politically crucial states, including West Bengal and other regions where elections are scheduled in the coming months.
Nitin Nabin, who became the BJP’s youngest national president earlier this year, has already initiated a series of organisational reviews and leadership changes aimed at strengthening the party’s structure across states. Political observers view the upcoming meeting as an important exercise that could shape the BJP’s electoral strategy and organisational priorities in the run up to future contests.
