Bhagalpur: In a chilling turn of events, a tragic love story ended in unimaginable horror as five lives were claimed in a brutal murder-suicide in Bhagalpur. The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, leaving neighbors and relatives grappling with the devastating aftermath.
The grim story began over a decade ago when Neetu, a constable in the Bihar Police, and her husband Pankaj first met while working together in a mall in Buxar. Their mutual attraction quickly blossomed into love, and in 2017, after Neetu secured her job in the police force, the couple defied their families to marry. What seemed like a promising love story took a dark turn, culminating in the horrific events that unfolded in their government quarters.
Following the gruesome incident, the police discovered a two-page suicide note in the couple’s room, allegedly written by Pankaj. The note reveals a harrowing tale of betrayal, heartbreak, and violence, implicating a fellow police officer, Suraj Thakur, in the tragedy. Pankaj’s note accuses Neetu of infidelity, citing her relationship with Suraj as the catalyst for the tragic events.
“Everything was ruined, sister-in-law, a girl killed everyone,” Pankaj wrote, addressing a neighbor. “The mother was crushed with a brick, and throats were slit with a knife. All this was done for a boy named Suraj Thakur posted in the Crime Branch.”
The note continues with chilling details: “The hand is shaking in writing… I killed him like I killed everyone. He crushed his head with a brick and slit his throat with a knife. Where did the children just see the world, what was their fault?”
According to sources, Neetu and Suraj, both stationed in the SP office in Bhagalpur, had grown close during their previous posting in Navgachhia. This closeness allegedly led to a strain in Neetu’s marriage with Pankaj, with tensions escalating over the past week. Friends of the couple noted that arguments over Neetu’s alleged affair had become frequent, ultimately leading to the horrific incident.
The Bhagalpur Police Line’s government quarter number CB-38, where the tragedy occurred, now stands eerily silent. The family’s slippers remain outside, a haunting reminder of the lives that were lost. Neighbors, still reeling from the shock, describe sleepless nights haunted by the memory of the brutal crime.
In response to the incident, an SIT (Special Investigation Team) has been formed under the leadership of the DSP to probe the case. The FSL (Forensic Science Laboratory) team has collected crucial evidence from the scene, which is currently under investigation. Meanwhile, the bodies have been handed over to Neetu’s family after the postmortem, with further revelations expected once the postmortem report is released.
Constable Suraj Thakur, named in Pankaj’s suicide note, was detained by the police last night and is being interrogated at an undisclosed location.
