Banks To Remain Closed On 1st & 2nd April, Total 15 Holidays This Month

Bhubaneswar: All commercial and cooperative banking institutions, except in Himachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Chandigarh, and Mizoram, will remain closed on Friday (April 1), due to the annual closing of accounts, according to the Reserve Bank of India website.

All agency bank government transactions for the fiscal year 2021-22 must be accounted for within the same fiscal year as per the rules, the guidelines added.

April will see a total of 15 holidays with several festivals lined up, including Assam’s Bihu and Bengali New Year for West Bengal.

According to the RBI’s bank holiday list for this year, the number of holidays has been fixed at nine for this month. The remaining six bank holidays are weekend days off, with banks remaining closed on four Sundays and two Saturdays.

Banks will be shut on April 2 in Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Manipur, Jammu, Goa, and Jammu and Kashmir on the occasion of Gudi Padwa, Ugadi Festival, 1st Navratra, Telugu New Year’s Day, Sajibu Nongmapanba.

Banks are open on the first and third Saturdays of each month but will be closed on April 16 due to Bohag Bihu, which falls on the third Saturday in various regions of the nation.

In Odisha, Banks will remain closed on April 1, April 3, April 9, April 10, April 14, April 15, April 17, April 23 and April 24.
