Attempted Assault On Giriraj Singh Sparks Political Outcry

Patna: An attempt was made to attack Union Minister Giriraj Singh during his visit to the Janata Darbar in Begusarai’s Ballia block on Saturday. As the minister was leaving the event, a man allegedly attempted to assault him. Swift action by the security personnel ensured that the suspect was apprehended and handed over to the police. Reports suggest the accused is a Muslim youth, and the incident has sparked a strong reaction from Singh.

During the Janata Darbar, where the Union Minister was meeting people to hear their grievances, a young man named Saifi allegedly seized the microphone and began making provocative statements. When BJP workers and other attendees attempted to intervene, Saifi reportedly lunged at Singh and threw a punch. Fortunately, the minister’s security team quickly intervened, preventing any harm. Saifi, who is said to be a local ward councillor, was immediately detained by the security staff and later handed over to law enforcement.

Union Minister Giriraj Singh was quick to respond to the incident, stating that he is not intimidated by such actions. “Growing a beard does not make a mullah,” Singh remarked, indicating that he would not be cowed by those trying to threaten him. He suggested that leaders like Tejashwi Yadav in Bihar and Akhilesh Yadav in Uttar Pradesh are emboldening radical elements who are not afraid to target elected representatives.

Singh also reiterated his criticism of the Waqf Board, alleging that in districts like Fatuha and Begusarai, the Board has been issuing notices to Hindu residents, claiming their land. He described the Board’s current activities as a “land grab campaign.”

The Union Minister further stated that Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s words, “Batoge to Katoge” (if you divide, you will perish), are absolutely true, calling on Hindus to unite for their safety and to protect Sanatan Dharma. He warned that if such unity does not occur, leaders like Akhilesh Yadav, Tejashwi Yadav, and Rahul Gandhi would risk turning India into an Islamic nation.

The incident and Singh’s comments have ignited a political debate, with many condemning the attack and others criticising the Union Minister’s response as inflammatory. The event highlights the tense political atmosphere in Bihar and the broader challenges of communal harmony in the region.
