Arvind Kejriwal Appeals To Haryana Voters, Slams BJP Governance

New Delhi: Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal embarked on a three-day election tour across Haryana, aiming to garner support for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the state’s upcoming elections. On Wednesday, Kejriwal addressed a public meeting in the Meham assembly constituency, where he passionately spoke about his deep roots in Haryana and criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for its governance and policies.

During his speech, Kejriwal emphasised his personal connection to Haryana, stating, “I am Maham’s nephew. My uncle lives here. Yesterday I was in Hisar, where I completed my 11th and 12th standards. He was very clever in studies, securing the 76th position in Kurukshetra. After 12th, I went to IIT. This son of yours has illuminated the name of Haryana in the whole world. Today, your son is ruling in Delhi and Punjab. Haryana falls in between. Give your son a chance to serve here too.”

Kejriwal did not hold back in his criticism of the BJP, accusing the party of unethical practices and ineffective governance. He alleged that BJP leaders have deliberately tried to undermine him, stating, “These miscreants have just sent me to jail. Very annoying. I am a sugar patient. They stopped my insulin injections. They thought they would break Kejriwal. They do not know that he is a son of Haryana. My only fault is that I have been working honestly for the people of Delhi for 10 years.”

Highlighting his achievements as Delhi’s Chief Minister, Kejriwal pointed out the improvements in the city’s infrastructure and public services. “When I became the Chief Minister of Delhi, there were big power cuts. Now there is 24-hour electricity. Electricity bill comes to zero. The man brings the money and puts it in the hands of his woman, the house has to be run by the women. The people of Haryana want zero electricity or not,” he asserted.

Kejriwal also challenged the BJP’s promises, particularly their claims of providing free electricity. “BJP leaders will make tall promises. They will say that 300 units of free electricity will be given. Do they have governments in so many states, did they give free electricity in any one state? These people say Kejriwal is a thief. Electricity is expensive everywhere in BJP-ruled states of Haryana, Gujarat, UP, Madhya Pradesh. Is it the one who makes electricity expensive or a thief?”

Addressing the state’s educational and healthcare sectors, Kejriwal lauded the improvements made in Delhi and Punjab under AAP governance. “There are three government schools in Meham, all are in bad shape. The situation was the same in Delhi. Now the government schools have been made so good that big people are getting admission of their children. Government hospitals in Delhi and Punjab have been made better. Mohalla clinics were opened. Everyone’s treatment is free there,” he explained.

Kejriwal also spoke about political dynasties, criticizing the BJP for favouring their own families in politics. “Seven of their generations are sitting and eating. Now their children are getting tickets. Someone’s son is contesting elections here. What is the fault of (AAP candidate) Vikas Nehra? His father is not a leader. My father was also not a leader. People are roaming in Delhi. People of Delhi say Kejriwal can be anything, he cannot be a thief.”

Responding to his recent legal troubles, Kejriwal stated, “I resigned after coming out of jail. People will decide whether Kejriwal is a thief or not. Kejriwal is giving you five guarantees. I will make electricity free. I will waive off old outstanding bills. We will build a great hospital. There will be free treatment. Mohalla clinics will be opened. We will build excellent government schools. All mothers and sisters above 18 years of age will get Rs 1000 per month in their account. We will arrange employment for children.”

In his concluding remarks, Kejriwal asserted that without his leadership, no effective government would be formed in Haryana. He also took a swipe at BJP MP Kangana Ranaut over agricultural laws, stating, “During the farmers’ movement, I served at the border of Delhi. I used to send water tankers and food. Modi [Prime Minister] repealed all three laws. Now alarm bells are ringing. BJP MP Kangana Ranaut has demanded that the three laws be brought back. This shows their intention is to get the three back. Today Khattar Sahab said that the farmers sitting on the Shambhu border are fake. Pressing such a button that they know that they are not real but fake Khattar.”

Kejriwal’s campaign in Haryana underscores AAP’s strategic efforts to expand its influence beyond Delhi and Punjab, positioning itself as a viable alternative to the BJP by highlighting governance successes and attacking the opposition’s policies.
