Archbishop Desmond Tutu, The Man Credited With Ending Apartheid, Passes Away

Johannesburg: Archbishop Desmond Tutu, who played a key role in ending Apartheid in South Africa, has died at the age of 90, Sky News reported.

The Archbishop, who was very vocal against the brutal system of oppression that previously prevailed against South Africa’s Black majority, was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1984.

“The passing of Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu is another chapter of bereavement in our nation’s farewell to a generation of outstanding South Africans who have bequeathed us a liberated South Africa,” South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa said.
