Patna: Former MP Anand Mohan has triggered a major political row in Bihar after making sharp remarks against Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the JDU and the BJP at a public event in Sitamarhi.

Speaking at a programme organised for the unveiling of a statue of Veer Shiromani Maharana Pratap, Mohan alleged that Nitish Kumar, who built the Janata Dal United and took it to its present position, has been “buried alive” within his own party. He also accused a powerful group inside the JDU of damaging the party’s image.

Mohan further alleged that tickets were sold for crores during the Bihar Assembly elections and ministerial posts were also distributed for money. Taking a swipe at the health department, he said Nishant was given the portfolio because both Nitish and his son “need a doctor”. He also called the JDU a “money-bag party” and claimed that financial influence now dominates its internal politics.

The remarks drew a strong response from the ruling party. Bihar minister Leshi Singh rejected Mohan’s allegations and said no force could “bury” Nitish Kumar alive. JDU chief spokesperson Neeraj Kumar also hit back, saying no one could prove that any person in Bihar had entered the Assembly, Council, Rajya Sabha or Lok Sabha by paying money. He asserted that the party would function as Nitish Kumar wants.

The RJD, meanwhile, used Mohan’s comments to attack the JDU. Party spokesperson Ejaz Ahmed said Mohan had exposed the “money system” inside the ruling party. The controversy has added fresh heat to Bihar politics, with both ruling and opposition leaders turning Mohan’s statement into a wider battle over credibility, leadership and power.
