New Delhi: Iltija Mufti, daughter of former Jammu and Kashmir CM Mehbooba Mufti and media advisor, has raised serious allegations, claiming her mobile phone was hacked using the Pegasus spyware allegedly purchased by the Indian government. Sharing a screenshot of an Apple alert message on social media platform X, Iltija stated that the hacking was aimed at harassing critics and political opponents.
Accusing the BJP of weaponising such tactics, Iltija condemned what she described as a shameful act targeting women who refuse to conform to their demands. This accusation comes amid renewed controversy over the use of Pegasus spyware, which previously caused uproar during the monsoon session of Parliament in 2021. Reports then suggested around 300 mobile numbers, including those of government ministers, opposition leaders, and journalists, were targeted.
