Mumbai: Bharti Airtel has partnered with Elon Musk’s SpaceX to launch fast-speed satellite-based internet services in India under Starlink. Particularly in rural areas where traditional infrastructure is rare, the tie-off marks a significant step towards raising internet access in the nation.
Subject to regulatory clearances from Indian authorities, Airtel has said it has signed a contract with SpaceX to offer Starlink services in India. Cooperation will enhance Airtel’s network capacity and provide consistent broadband services to underprivileged areas. Using its extensive retail network, Airtel will distribute Starlink equipment and offer consumers and companies fast satellite internet.
Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Bharti Airtel, Gopal Vittal, further stressed the importance of this cooperation since it represents Airtel’s emphasis on offering next-generation satellite connectivity. By augmenting Airtel’s present infrastructure, this alliance will help it to grow to more locations and provide a greater range of services for its consumers.
For satellite internet, Airtel already has a cooperation with Eutelsat OneWeb; the launch of Starlink will expand its offering. Airtel plans to investigate ways to include Starlink technology into its present system to offer perfect connectivity all around.
This is a step by Airtel to keep it competitive in the Indian telecom business, where Jio is the present biggest actor. By using Starlink services, Airtel seeks to provide its consumers with alternative options, especially in cases where conventional connectivity is challenged.
