Mumbai: Shah Rukh didn’t have a major release in over four years.
And then there was a barrage in 2023.
First ‘Pathaan’ took the box office by storm after hitting theatres in January. Then came ‘Jawan’ in September with more record-breaking figures.
‘Dunki’, Shah Rukh’s maiden collaboration with Rajkumar Hirani, released last week, and promises to be just as successful.
Having turned 58 last month, Shah Rukh remains the Bollywood Badshah.
Not satisfied with his trio of releases in 2023, he is already looking forward to his next project in the new year.
And he is keen on doing a more age-appropriate role this time.
“I will start one in March-April. I am attempting now to do a film which is more age-real to me, and play it still as the protagonist and as the star of the film,” Shah Rukh told TV presenter and celebrity journalist Raya Abirached.
In ‘Dunki’, Shah Rukh is seen as a young man as well as an aged person.
Asked what prompted him to work with Hirani for the first time, Shah Rukh said: “To be honest, what draws you to a Rajkumar Hirani film is Rajkumar Hirani and it’s a very heartfelt film.”
‘Pathaan’ and ‘Jawan’ were both action films out an out, while ‘Dunki’ is more of a social entertainer.
Shah Rukh’s co-stars include Taapsee Pannu and Boman Irani, while Vicky Kaushal has played a crucial cameo.
