Bhubaneswar: There was no respite from the fuel price hike on Thursday which saw the 9th increase of 80 paise a litre in 10 days. Since the revision in fuel prices began on March 22, petrol and diesel rates have increased by Rs 6.40 per litre.
Petrol now costs Rs 109. 93 in Odisha and diesel Rs 99.66.
The retailers are raising prices to bridge under-recoveries that are estimated to have risen to Rs 20-22 when global benchmark oil, Brent, hit $139 per barrel on March 7. The prices are likely to rise further as oil slide to $110 per barrel levels and the seven rate revisions bridges very little of those under-recoveries, the ET reported.
While Congress MPs under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi are staging a protest at Vijay Chawk against the constant increase in the fuel price, Twitter users have been expressing their displeasure for the past many days through hilarious memes.

Petrol is a luxurious commodity. Your salary and savings will not rise like petrol price. If possible sell your bike and car and start cycling. Long live the growth of the nation. We have to go back in time to cycling and firewood. #FuelPrice #lpgpricehike #middleclass
