New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has announced significant changes in its leadership structure following a meeting of its Political Affairs Committee (PAC). Saurabh Bharadwaj has been appointed as the new Delhi state president, replacing Gopal Rai. This decision comes after Bharadwaj’s recent defeat in the Delhi Assembly elections, where he lost the Greater Kailash seat to BJP’s Shikha Roy by 3,139 votes.
In addition to this important appointment, the party has made several other organisational changes across different states. Manish Sisodia, despite losing his Jangpura seat in the recent elections, has been named the in-charge for Punjab. Gopal Rai, who won from the Babarpur constituency, will now oversee the party’s affairs in Gujarat.
Other notable appointments include Pankaj Gupta as the in-charge for Goa, Sandeep Pathak for Chhattisgarh, and Mehraj Malik as the new president for Jammu and Kashmir. The party has also appointed co-in-charges in several states to strengthen its organisational structure.
These changes come at a crucial time for AAP, as it seeks to regroup and strategise following its recent electoral setback in Delhi. The party’s emphasis on expanding its presence in other states while reorganising its Delhi unit reflects its ambition to maintain relevance in national politics.
