New Delhi: The Centre will offer as many as 1000 PhD fellowships to students from the ASEAN countries to strengthen bilateral ties.
The Fellowships will be offered in IITs across the country and the admission portal will be run by IIT Delhi, news agency IANS said in a report.
The programme will be launched on Monday jointly by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Human Resource Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal.
Ambassadors of all ASEAN countries, vice chairman of NITI Aayog, directors of all the 23 IITs, chairman UGC and senior officials from External Affairs and HRD Ministries will be present.
The Association of South-East Asian Nations (ASEAN) comprises Indonesia, Singapore, Philippines, Malaysia, Brunei, Thailand, Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, and Vietnam.
