Singapore-based Shado Group’s Adarin Engineering Technologies has unveiled a new electric three-wheeler with a proprietary ultra-capacitor battery that is able to charge it in 5 minutes. The vehicle has a range of 70km.
The main difference is the ultra-capacitor battery which can be ‘instantly-charged’ and has a long 25,000 duty cycle lifetime, 20X longer than current batteries. These batteries do not degrade in extreme temperatures ranging from -25 to 60 degree Celsius, the company claims. The running cost of the vehicle is around Rs 1.50 per km depending on the electricity rate.
The three-wheeler comes in both passenger and cargo variants. The company will also set up charging infrastructure, according to media reports.
Shado group’s technology can also be used to convert existing fossil fuel-powered auto-rickshaws, cars and light trucks into electric.
It plans to manufacture up to 1,000 units per month for the Indian market at its plant in Pune. It will invest around US$10 million over two years in the factory.
