Luxury carmaker Ferrari has threatened to sue a German fashion designer for displaying sneakers on a Ferrari for publicity. The carmaker said the post “tarnishes the reputation of Ferrari’s brands and causes Ferrari further material damage”.
Designer Philipp Plein had put a photo of a pair of sneakers on his personal Ferrari 812 Superfast. Ferrari claimed that the designer was using the car’s logo for increasing visibility.
Philipp, however, lashed out at Louis Camilleri, the CEO of Ferrari, and stated that the letter was a type of blackmail. He has not deleted the posts from his Instagram account.
Philipp had purchased his first Ferrari 10 years back, and the one in photograph was a recent gift to his mother.
