New Delhi: The escalating controversy surrounding the recent protests at Jantar Mantar has reached the police station, with Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Vivek Bhagat filing a First Information Report (FIR) against six individuals, including independent journalist Rosie and Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke.

The FIR, lodged at the Parliament Street Police Station, accuses the individuals of using casteist slurs, public humiliation, obstruction of official duty, and defamation. The complaint stems from a protest organized against the Election Commission of India (ECI) on October 3, 2026, where ACP Bhagat was deployed to maintain law and order.

According to the complaint, the confrontation began near the Buta Singh roundabout. ACP Bhagat alleges that during the process of managing and detaining protesters, journalist Rosie made derogatory remarks regarding his caste (Megh/Meghwal) and questioned his appointment as an ACP. The police officer claims that the journalist and her associates repeatedly confronted him, actively obstructing him from discharging his official duties.

The FIR further states that the situation intensified later that evening when the accused individuals staged a demonstration outside the Parliament Street Police Station. During this protest, ACP Bhagat alleges he was subjected to severe character assassination, with demonstrators allegedly labelling him a “sexual predator” and a “potential rapist.”

Alongside Rosie and Abhijeet Dipke, the police have named Gajendra Singh, Ashutosh Ranka, Saurav Das, and Ratna Singh in the FIR. The complaint accuses them of broadcasting defamatory posts and reels across social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram, which the ACP claims has caused him severe mental distress and damaged his professional reputation.

The case has been registered under stringent sections, including the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, alongside various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). These include Section 221 for obstructing a public servant, Section 356(2) for defamation, and Section 3(5) for acts committed by several persons in furtherance of a common intention.

Meanwhile, the FIR also acknowledges a separate, pre-existing complaint filed by Rosie against ACP Bhagat, in which she accused him of sexual harassment during the protest. That specific complaint has been transferred to the Delhi Police Crime Branch, and an investigation into her allegations is currently underway.
