Chennai: Putting an end to widespread speculation, the makers of Superstar Rajinikanth’s highly anticipated film, Jailer 2, have officially clarified that the movie will indeed have a theatrical release in Hindi. The action-packed sequel is slated to hit cinema halls globally on October 15, 2026.
Over the past few days, social media has been abuzz with claims that the Hindi-dubbed version of Jailer 2 might skip a traditional theatrical run. The rumours stemmed from an alleged post-theatrical agreement between the producers and a major OTT platform. Reports suggested that the makers had agreed to a four-week digital streaming window for the film. Since national multiplex chains in North India typically mandate a strict eight-week exclusive theatrical window before a Hindi film can transition to streaming platforms, speculations grew that the movie would not be screened in Hindi-speaking belts.
However, the production team has now strongly refuted these claims, labelling them entirely baseless. Addressing the ongoing confusion, the makers issued a clarification confirming that there has been no change in their release strategy. They assured fans that Jailer 2 will be released in Hindi theaters alongside its Tamil counterpart and other regional languages.
Furthermore, the producers revealed that Pen Marudhar Entertainment has been officially brought on board to handle the theatrical distribution across the North Indian and Hindi-speaking markets. Urging the audience and media not to fall prey to fake news, the makers stated, “We request everyone to avoid spreading unverified information regarding the film.”
Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, Jailer 2 carries immense expectations following the massive blockbuster success of its 2023 predecessor. The sequel boasts a star-studded, pan-Indian ensemble cast. Bollywood actress Vidya Balan will be seen playing a powerful negative role, while veteran actors Mithun Chakraborty and Mohanlal also feature in pivotal parts. Additionally, fans can look forward to a special cameo appearance by Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan.
