Lucknow: Cricket fans are set to witness a significantly revamped Team India as they prepare to face the West Indies in the opening match of their five-match T20 International series on October 6. The Indian squad will step onto the field with a new captain, fresh faces, and a brand-new approach, promising high-octane action.

In a major leadership shuffle, Shreyas Iyer is set to take charge of the T20I squad against the Caribbean side. The opening combination will also see a fresh pairing. While Vaibhav Suryavanshi recently opened during the Asian Games, reports suggest that the explosive duo of Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson is highly likely to take on the opening duties for this crucial fixture.

The middle order boasts a strong mix of youth and experience. Ishan Kishan, Tilak Varma, Shivam Dube, and all-rounder Axar Patel are expected to form the core of India’s batting lineup. On the bowling front, the pace attack will likely be spearheaded by Arshdeep Singh and the tearaway quick Mayank Yadav, with the seasoned Kuldeep Yadav managing the spin department.

Probable Playing XI: Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan, Shreyas Iyer (Captain), Tilak Varma, Shivam Dube, Axar Patel, Arshdeep Singh, Mayank Yadav, and Kuldeep Yadav.

Team India will be walking into the Ekana Cricket Stadium with an unblemished record. This will be the fourth time India plays a T20I in Lucknow, having emerged victorious in all three of their previous outings at the venue—including one against the West Indies.

The head-to-head record heavily favors the Men in Blue as well. Out of the 11 T20Is played between the two sides previously, India has dominated by winning nine matches, while the West Indies have managed to secure victory in only two. As the teams lock horns for the 12th time in this format, the new-look Indian side will be eager to maintain their formidable streak.
