Mumbai: Fans eagerly awaiting the fresh on-screen pairing of Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan will have to hold their excitement a little longer. The release date of their highly anticipated action-comedy, Udta Teer, has been postponed for the second time. Originally slated to hit theatres on October 9, the film will now arrive on the big screen on October 23, 2026.
According to reports and a press note released by the makers, the decision to delay the film was taken to secure a better theatrical window and avoid ongoing box-office clashes with other major releases. Udta Teer was initially scheduled to release on September 11, before being pushed to October 9, and now, finally, to October 23.
The recently released trailer of the film had already generated significant buzz among audiences. Speaking about the unique plot, Ayushmann Khurrana recently stated, “In the film, I play a Pakistani spy who loses his memory. While he retains a sense of patriotism, he forgets which country he belongs to, so he ends up supporting India. It could be described as a pro-India patriotic comedy; it’s a genre-defying film that can be enjoyed with the whole family.”
In the movie, Sara Ali Khan essays the role of a CTS officer who remains completely oblivious to the real identity of Ayushmann’s character. The film promises a thrilling ride of mistaken identity, espionage, and high-octane comedy, complete with intense action sequences and political satire.
Marking the directorial debut of Akash A Kaushik, Udta Teer brings together a stellar ensemble cast including Rahul Bose, Ram Kapoor, Gulshan Grover, Raghubir Yadav, and Supriya Pilgaonkar. The project is jointly bankrolled by Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Guneet Monga Kapoor, and Achin Jain under the banners of Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment.
Despite earlier reports of the film’s shooting being briefly stalled in 2024, the team successfully wrapped up a major schedule in Mumbai earlier this year, which included the filming of the quirky and energetic track “Bhootni Ka”, composed by Sachin-Jigar.
With a new release date securely locked, the makers are confident that the 15-day delay will allow the patriotic comedy to enjoy a much wider reach and an uninterrupted run at the box office.
