Mumbai: In what could be one of the most exciting casting coups in recent times, Bollywood superstars Priyanka Chopra and Saif Ali Khan might soon share screen space for the very first time. The two celebrated actors are reportedly in talks to star in an upcoming international project helmed by acclaimed filmmaker Ritesh Batra.
Despite their extensive and highly successful careers in the entertainment industry—with Saif Ali Khan completing 33 years in cinema and Priyanka Chopra spending 24 years in the limelight—the two have never featured together in a single movie. According to a recent Filmfare report, negotiations are currently underway to bring these powerhouse performers together for Batra’s next directorial venture. The renowned director is best known for his 2013 critically acclaimed and globally loved film, “The Lunchbox.”
If the project materializes and the casting is officially finalized, it will fulfill a long-standing aspiration for Priyanka Chopra. Her desire to share screen space with the “Omkara” star dates back over a decade. Back in 2012, she had publicly expressed her keen interest in collaborating with him. During previous media interactions, she had referred to Saif as a brilliant actor and revealed that they were originally supposed to work together on two or three different films. Unfortunately, those projects repeatedly fell through due to scheduling conflicts and various logistical issues, leaving fans deprived of seeing them together on the big screen. Now, exactly 14 years later, her wish seems closer than ever to turning into a reality.
While the entertainment world eagerly awaits official confirmation regarding the Ritesh Batra project, Priyanka is already gearing up for a massive return to Indian cinema. She is currently busy working on director SS Rajamouli’s highly anticipated pan-India film, “Varanasi”, where she will be seen starring alongside Mahesh Babu. Slated for a major theatrical release on April 11, 2027, the Rajamouli directorial marks her much-awaited comeback to Indian films after a massive eight-year gap. Her last appearance in a Hindi film was the 2019 family drama, “The Sky Is Pink.”
Meanwhile, Saif Ali Khan continues to be a formidable force in the industry, consistently taking on diverse and challenging roles. A potential collaboration between the two veterans under Batra’s direction promises to be a cinematic treat for a global audience.
