Vrindavanv: The shocking and suspicious death of a 25-year-old disciple of Sant Premanand Maharaj in Vrindavan has sparked a major controversy, with his grieving family from Jabalpur demanding a thorough investigation into the matter. The deceased, originally named Deepak Lodhi and later known as Rasik Dulari Sharan, died on Friday after allegedly falling from the fourth floor of the Guru Kripa Kunj apartment in the Radha Vatika area.
According to the police, initial investigations and CCTV footage suggest a grim sequence of events. At around 10:25 AM, Rasik was seen emerging from his room with severe bloodstains on his clothes. Reports indicate he may have inflicted a fatal injury to his private parts using a tile-cutting grinder, which was later recovered from his room. An 11-minute CCTV clip showed him wandering outside his room in a bleeding state before climbing to the roof, sitting down briefly, and finally jumping off at 10:36 AM. He was rushed to a private hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
Deepak, a resident of Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, had a deep inclination towards spirituality. After completing a 3,000-kilometre foot pilgrimage along the Narmada River, he moved to Vrindavan. Two years ago, he took initiation (Deeksha) from Sant Premanand Maharaj, completely distancing himself from worldly ties and stopping the use of mobile phones.
The tragic death has left his family shattered, and they have levelled serious allegations against the ashram’s management. His brother-in-law, Sonu Patel, stated that the family was initially told Deepak was merely unwell. “When we reached the ashram in the evening, we were made to wait for hours and were not allowed to see him. We only saw his body much later at the post-mortem house,” Patel alleged.
Deepakās brother, Manish, further claimed that the ashram had deliberately isolated him. “Whenever we visited Vrindavan over the past two years, we were made to wait for days just to meet him, and communication was completely cut off,” Manish said, urging a comprehensive probe.
Mathura Police and forensic teams have seized the grinder, a diary, and a mobile phone from the room. Authorities have stated that the exact nature of the injuries and the circumstances of the death will be clarified once the detailed post-mortem and forensic reports are released.
