Singrauli: In a tragic turn of events, Nidhi Tiwari, the winner of ‘Miss Pretty India 2024’ and a popular social media influencer, was found dead at her residence in the Morwa police station area of Singrauli district, Madhya Pradesh. The 30-year-old reportedly died by suicide, leaving her family, friends, and massive online following in shock.
Nidhi, originally from Varanasi, lived in the Bhusa Mod area with her mother and younger sister. On Sunday morning, her body was found hanging in her room. According to her family, she had locked herself in her room on Saturday night after an argument over the phone with a Delhi-based youth named Sonu Singh.
Her mother, Lata Tiwari, stated that around 8 PM on Saturday, Nidhi had a heated conversation on the phone. “When we asked her to have dinner around 9-10 PM, she refused and asked to be left alone. We went to sleep,” her mother recalled. The next morning, when the door did not open for a long time, the family grew suspicious and informed the police. Officers arrived at the scene, looked through the window, and discovered her body hanging from the ceiling.
Before taking the drastic step, Nidhi had shared a poignant and cryptic post on Facebook. In her emotional message, she wrote, “This incomplete heart was not completed by anyone, I completed it myself. That is why it is said love yourself, not someone else. Search for yourself within yourself, for how long will you search for yourself in someone else.”
Nidhi was a prominent figure online, boasting over 9.28 lakh followers on Facebook and 7.12 lakh on Instagram. She frequently posted dance reels and had a large fanbase. Beyond her social media fame, she aspired to become an actor and participated in various local events and beauty pageants, clinching the ‘Miss Pretty India’ title earlier this year.
A neighbour, Bhupendra Singh, revealed a tragic family history, mentioning that Nidhi’s elder sister had also died by suicide about five years ago by jumping into a well. The sisters lived with their mother, as their father had been living separately for the past 15 years.
Morwa Police Station In-charge Dr. Gyanendra Singh confirmed the ongoing investigation. “The body has been handed over to the family after the post-mortem. We are recording statements and scrutinizing her phone call details and social media activity to understand who she was in contact with before her death,” he stated.
