New Delhi: Adding another significant milestone to his cricketing career, in-form Indian fast bowler Mukesh Kumar has officially signed with Nottinghamshire to play the final two matches of the ongoing 2026 English County Championship season. This marks a new chapter for the 32-year-old pacer, as his upcoming stint at Trent Bridge will be the first time he represents a domestic side outside of Bengal.
Kumar heads to England carrying exceptional form, fresh off a highly successful domestic campaign back home. “I am really pleased to sign for Nottinghamshire at an important time in the season. I can’t wait to arrive in England and test myself in county cricket,” Kumar stated in an official release issued by the English club.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the new challenge, the seamer added, “I want to contribute as much as I can while I am here to help Nottinghamshire to success, and I am looking forward to working with the coaches and my new teammates. Coming to England is always a good challenge, and I am excited by the chance to play for a new team in new conditions. The Bihar-born pacer has been a highly reliable asset in the domestic circuit, boasting a stellar first-class record of 233 wickets from 60 games at a miserly average of 21.79. On the international stage, Kumar has earned 26 caps for India across all three formats, claiming 32 wickets, including seven scalps in his three Test appearances.
Nottinghamshire Head Coach Peter Moores expressed his delight over the latest acquisition, highlighting Kumar’s recent match-winning exploits in the Duleep Trophy. “We’re really excited to get Mukesh over at what is a crucial time of the season,” Moores said. “He comes straight off the back of a really competitive game in the Duleep Trophy Final, in which he was on the winning team and played a pivotal role.”
