Bengaluru: A routine online grocery delivery transformed into a highly distressing ordeal for a woman in Bengaluru after a delivery executive allegedly attempted to enter her home. The quick response from the delivery platform Zepto has now resulted in the permanent removal of the agent from their services.

The alarming incident surfaced when the woman, who operates the Instagram handle thatamethystgirl, posted a video narrating her experience. According to her statement, the delivery partner arrived at her residence with her order and requested some drinking water. Assuming he was exhausted from his demanding schedule, she handed him a full bottle of water and asked him to keep it for his journey.

However, the situation took a frightening turn moments later. The woman alleged that the agent claimed he had consumed the entire bottle and demanded more water. Alongside this request, he began repeatedly insisting that she allow him inside her house for a few minutes. Finding his behaviour highly suspicious and inappropriate, she firmly denied his request and attempted to close her front door.

Instead of leaving, the delivery partner allegedly became persistent. The woman stated that he continuously rang the doorbell and knocked loudly on the door while demanding entry into her apartment. She expressed that she felt extremely vulnerable and terrified as the man relentlessly tried to gain access to her private space.

Following the viral circulation of her social media post, the management team at Zepto reached out to her directly. The company took immediate cognizance of the security threat and initiated strict disciplinary measures. The woman later informed her followers that Zepto had permanently deactivated the account of the delivery partner.

To ensure her peace of mind, the company provided written documentation confirming that the agent would never be assigned to any location near her residence. Additionally, Zepto sent her a formal written apology, a copy of the resignation letter of the rider, and a small symbolic gift to express their regret. The company also assured her that they would support joint legal proceedings if the individual ever attempted to approach her home in the future.

While this unsettling event has reignited crucial debates regarding the safety of customers during doorstep deliveries, the woman publicly expressed her gratitude to Zepto for their swift and decisive intervention.
