New Delhi: The nationwide agitation over the NEET UG 2026 paper leak and the mounting demands for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan have intensified, spreading rapidly from the national capital to Bihar. On Wednesday, a massive protest organized by the All India Students Association in Patna turned violent as police deployed tear gas shells, water cannons, and a severe lathicharge to disperse the agitated students.
The demonstration in Patna was primarily organized to condemn the recent police crackdown on protesting students in New Delhi. The situation in the Bihar capital escalated quickly when protesting groups resorted to heavy stone pelting. Several police personnel sustained severe head injuries during the sudden clash. This prompted law enforcement officials to retaliate with decisive force and crowd control measures to restore public order in the area.
This regional unrest is a direct fallout of the chaotic events that unfolded on Monday in Delhi, where the Cockroach Janta Party led a massive parliament march. That specific demonstration witnessed fierce physical clashes between security personnel and student activists. Delhi Police utilized tear gas and lathicharge to halt the advancing crowds, resulting in significant injuries on both sides. Official reports indicate that well over one hundred individuals had to be hospitalized following the violent confrontations.
Although the aggressive parliament march was temporarily suspended on Tuesday to prevent further violence, demonstrators have stubbornly maintained their round the clock vigil at Jantar Mantar. The Cockroach Janta Party released a statement asserting that thousands of dedicated supporters remain gathered at the protest site as the movement officially enters its second month. Local volunteers have been actively supplying cooked meals and essential items to those camping out overnight.
In response to the escalating coordinated demonstrations by the Cockroach Janta Party, the All India Students Association, and the Youth Congress, the Delhi Police remains strictly on high alert mode. Authorities have completely fortified Lutyens Delhi with multilayered security arrangements. Highly sensitive locations, notably Connaught Place, Jantar Mantar, Rafi Marg, and Sansad Marg, have been heavily barricaded.
To prevent any further untoward incidents, law enforcement agencies have amplified their surveillance capabilities using extensive CCTV networks. Additional police battalions and paramilitary forces have been strategically deployed at key city intersections. Specialized riot control units, Quick Response Teams, and emergency reserve forces remain on absolute standby. Furthermore, security protocols have been drastically tightened across the mass transit network. Sixteen major metro stations, including the bustling Rajiv Chowk, have been temporarily shut down to restrict demonstrator movement and maintain absolute public order.
