Mumbai: Actor and politician Kangana Ranaut is set to return to the big screen with Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata, but the film arrives at a challenging moment in her box office journey. The film is scheduled to release in theatres on June 12, 2026, at a time when the actor has been waiting for a clear hit for nearly 11 years.
According to the report, Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata will face a tough box office test as three other Bollywood films are also releasing on the same day. The clash is expected to make the opening weekend crucial for Kangana’s comeback attempt.
Kangana made her Bollywood debut in 2006 with the Bhatt camp film Gangster, opposite Emraan Hashmi and Shiney Ahuja. Her performance was widely noticed and the film helped her earn the Filmfare Best Debut Award. Since then, 31 of her films have released, while Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata will be counted as her 32nd film.
The report said Kangana has had more failures than successes at the box office. Out of her 31 released films, only nine have received the status of superhit, hit, semi hit or average. These include Gangster, Life in a Metro, Raaz: The Mystery Continues, Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai, Tanu Weds Manu, Shootout at Wadala, Queen, Tanu Weds Manu Returns and Manikarnika.
Her last major hit came in 2015 with Tanu Weds Manu Returns. Since then, several of her films, including Rangoon, Simran, Judgementall Hai Kya, Panga, Thalaivii, Dhaakad, Tejas and Emergency, failed to make a strong impact at the ticket window.
Kangana’s previous release Emergency, in which she played former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and also handled direction, reportedly earned around ₹23.81 crore in India against an estimated budget of nearly ₹60 crore.
As per the report, Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata is based on true events linked to the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. Presented by PEN Studios, the film features Kangana as a nurse. The cast also includes Girija Oak, Smita Tambe, Amruta Namdev, Isha Dey, Priya Berde and Asha Shelar.
With a crowded release date and Kangana’s recent box office record under scrutiny, the film’s performance will be closely watched by trade observers and audiences alike.
