Mumbai: The arrest of Nida Khan in the high-profile TCS-related case has triggered a fresh political controversy in Maharashtra after allegations surfaced that she had received shelter at the residence of an AIMIM corporator in Nashik. The issue quickly snowballed into a political flashpoint, prompting senior AIMIM leader Waris Pathan to publicly respond to the accusations.
Speaking to reporters, Waris Pathan said the law should be allowed to take its own course and maintained that no one involved in criminal activity should be protected, regardless of political affiliation. However, he also questioned the timing and political tone of the allegations being levelled against the AIMIM.
The controversy erupted after reports claimed that Nida Khan, one of the accused in the TCS case, had allegedly stayed at the house of an AIMIM corporator in Nashik before her arrest. Opposition leaders demanded a detailed investigation into whether any local political network helped her evade authorities.
The Maharashtra Police recently arrested Nida Khan after an extensive search operation linked to the case, which has already drawn major public and political attention. Investigators are reportedly examining phone records, travel details and local contacts to determine whether she received logistical support while staying in Nashik.
The issue has now intensified political tensions in Maharashtra, with rival parties accusing each other of politicising the investigation. Meanwhile, police officials said the probe is continuing and further details may emerge after interrogation of the accused.
