Patna: As Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar took oath for a record 10th time at a grand ceremony in Gandhi Maidan, all eyes were on his reclusive son, Nishant Kumar, whose brief interaction with the media has reignited speculation about his long-awaited plunge into active politics.

The 50-year-old Nishant, who has steadfastly stayed away from electoral battles despite his father’s towering legacy, was seen beaming amid the celebrations after the NDA’s thumping victory – securing 202 of 243 seats. Thanking the people of Bihar, he highlighted the pivotal role of women voters. Their turnout soared past 71 per cent compared to men’s 62.9 per cent.

“I bow to the people of the state and extend my heartfelt congratulations. The way women participated in voting is extremely significant for Bihar,” Nishant told reporters, crediting their support for the historic mandate.

But when pressed on the million-dollar question – when will he finally enter the political arena? – Nishant simply flashed a cryptic smile and walked away, leaving journalists and political watchers guessing again.

With JD(U) bagging 85 seats and allies like the BJP (89) strengthening the coalition, whispers in Patna corridors suggest pressure is mounting on Nitish to groom a successor. Yet, Nishant’s silence continues to fuel suspense in Bihar’s dynamic-yet-merit-driven political drama.
