Guwahati: Following the deadly Delhi blast near the Red Fort that claimed 12 lives, Assam Police have intensified their crackdown, arresting 15 individuals linked to offensive social media posts and potential terror activities.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to social media to update the public about the ongoing operations, revealing that multiple arrests have been made across the state. Notable arrests include Rafijul Ali from Bongaigaon, Forid Uddin Laskar from Hailakandi, Inamul Islam and Firoz Ahmad Papon from Lakhimpur, and several others from Barpeta, Hojai, Kamrup, and South Salmara.

The Chief Minister emphasised a zero-tolerance policy against those glorifying violence. In a recent statement, he asserted that the administration’s primary focus remains on apprehending supporters of terrorism and destabilising elements attempting to disrupt peace in Assam.

Intelligence agencies have uncovered a major terror conspiracy linked to the Red Fort car explosion, exposing plans involving modified vehicles, including an i20 and an EcoSport. Authorities are investigating whether more such vehicles are being prepared to carry out a series of coordinated attacks.

With heightened vigilance and coordinated efforts between police and intelligence agencies, Assam is resolute in its commitment to curbing terrorism and maintaining law and order.
