Nalanda: In a fiery rally ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, invoking the legacy of former PM Indira Gandhi to highlight what he called Modi’s lack of courage.
Addressing a massive crowd in Nalanda, Gandhi claimed that US President Donald Trump had insulted Modi “50 times” by boasting about a phone call that allegedly forced the PM to halt ‘Operation Sindoor’. “That man is the US President, and he’s humiliated our PM repeatedly,” Gandhi said, challenging Modi to publicly call Trump a liar if he had the guts.
Praising Indira Gandhi, the Wayanad MP remarked, “She was a woman, but she had more strength than this man. Modi is a coward.” He contrasted Nalanda’s ancient glory as a global education hub — drawing scholars from Japan, Korea, and England — with Bihar’s current woes, including rampant paper leaks that shatter the dreams of honest youth. “Biharis build wonders like Dubai and Bengaluru with their sweat, so why can’t they transform Bihar?” Gandhi questioned, blaming systemic failures.
Turning to state governance, Gandhi accused Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of being a puppet, with Modi holding the “remote control”. He slammed Bihar’s hospitals as “places where people go to die, not heal”, and criticised Modi’s symbolic Yamuna dip in a specially-cleaned pool amid widespread pollution.
Gandhi warned of vote theft to undermine the Constitution, urging unity against hate that benefits leaders like Modi and Amit Shah. “Bihar needs a government for every caste and religion,” he asserted, calling for vigilance in polls.
