New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has showered the Indian cricket team with a staggering ₹204 crore (approximately $24.5 million USD) in prize money for their exceptional performance over the past 15 months.

This substantial reward comes after the team secured three major multi-team tournament victories: the 2024 T20 World Cup, the 2025 Champions Trophy, and the 2025 Asia Cup.

Team India’s recent dominance has captivated the cricketing world, with the squad demonstrating unparalleled skill and resilience. Their consecutive triumphs have not only won the hearts of millions of fans but also firmly established their prowess on the international stage. The BCCI’s generous prize distribution illustrates the importance of these achievements.

The most recent of these victories was the 2025 Asia Cup, where India defeated arch-rivals Pakistan by 5 wickets in the final. This win was particularly poignant, marking the first encounter between the two nations’ cricket teams since the Pahalgham attacks on April 22 and Operation Sindoor on May 7. India’s commanding performance, including three victories against Pakistan in the tournament, led the BCCI to announce a prize of ₹21 crore for the team.

Prior to the Asia Cup, on March 9, 2025, Team India clinched their third Champions Trophy title by defeating New Zealand. The team remained undefeated throughout the tournament, a testament to their consistent excellence. Following this historic win, the BCCI, on March 20, announced a reward of ₹58 crore for the players, coaching staff, and all members associated with the team.

The largest portion of the prize money, ₹125 crore, was awarded for their triumph in the 2024 T20 World Cup in June. This victory was especially significant, as it ended a 17-year wait for the T20 World Cup trophy, with India overcoming South Africa by 7 runs in a thrilling final.

This substantial sum represents the largest prize money ever awarded by the BCCI for a single tournament victory. The cumulative prize money reflects the BCCI’s recognition of the team’s dedication, hard work, and the immense pride they have brought to the nation.
